Getting my 'Cosmedicon' on!

Last month I attended the annual Cosmedicon conference in Sydney.  I really enjoyed listening and learning from both local and international speakers who share their personal experiences, expertise and knowledge.  There are also live injecting demonstrations showcasing new techniques, products and devices. Conferences are essential to my ongoing education as a medical professional.  They provide the necessary CDP points to maintain my Registered Nursing registration.

It was exciting to see the technology and devices for non-surgical ‘skin tightening’ progressing.  Previous ‘tightening’ or ‘lifting’ devices I have used were painful, required lengthy and numerous treatments, were costly and often to deliver results for my patients. Devices are now using ultrasound or laser energy to precisely target the deep foundation layers of the skin (SMAS up to 4.5mm deep) to treat skin laxity.

My wonderful colleagues from Cosmedical, Sally Lomax and Dr. Ron Bezic. Results are starting to show 2-3 months after a single treatment.  As this technology advances, we may be able avoid the need for a surgical face lift!

Heading into Autumn I’m starting to see more laser clients taking advantage of the cooler months and reduced UV exposure.  For pigmentation treatments you’ll need to allow 6 weeks for your summer tan to fade.  For deeper re-surfacing treatments to improve skin texture, you need to allow for 1-2 weeks of potential downtime.  But the smoother results are worth it! Thanks for reading, means a lot and I hope you have a great April.

Best regards

Bec
